Summer can be very hard on your hair.
In New England we wait anxiously for summer, looking
forward to long days, lazy afternoons on the lawn, sitting outside at our favorite bistro, or weekends at the beach.
But for all their much anticipated benefits, the sun, the sand, and the salt and chlorine that come with summer can wreak havoc on your hair. We are careful with our skin, but we sometimes forget that our hair needs protection too. The hot summer sun can strip out your natural color, or even the color pigment you may have added to your hair. Salt water or chlorine can dull your color.
The beginning of fall is a great time to think about enhancing and re-energizing the tone of your hair color.
Here are some great ways to bring the life back into your hair.
Consider adding some low lights the next time you have your highlights done. Contrast is great for adding depth and richness to color. You can do low lights using your natural color, or by adding some spice with a beautiful shade of golden or auburn tones that compliment the colors of fall.
If you are blond and the color has washed out or become too light from the sun, an overall toner can be used to return your hair to beautiful color. Toner will add shine as well.
So if you’re looking at your hair and thinking the color just looks tired, lifeless, and dull, you are not alone.
Highlights, low lights and toner are just some of the solutions.
